FERROALLOY

Ferroalloy is an alloy composed of one or more metallic or non-metallic elements fused with iron. For example, ferrosilicon is a silicide formed by silicon and iron, such as Fe2Si, Fe5Si3, FeSi, FeSi2, etc. They are the main components of ferrosilicon. Silicon in ferrosilicon mainly exists in the form of FeSi and FeSi2, especially FeSi is relatively stable. The melting point of different components of ferrosilicon is also different, for example, 45% ferrosilicon has a melting point of 1260 ℃ and 75% ferrosilicon has a melting point of 1340 ℃. Manganese iron is an alloy of manganese and iron, which also contains small amounts of other elements such as carbon, silicon, and phosphorus. Depending on its carbon content, manganese iron is divided into high carbon manganese iron, medium carbon manganese iron, and low carbon manganese iron. Manganese iron alloy with sufficient silicon content is called silicon manganese alloy.
Ferroalloys are not metal materials that can be used directly, but are mainly used as intermediate raw materials for Oxygen scavenger, reducing agent and alloy additives in steel production and casting industry.
Classification of ferroalloys
With the development of modern science and technology, various industries have increasingly high requirements for the variety and performance of steel, thus placing higher demands on ferroalloys. There are a wide variety of ferroalloys and various classification methods, which are generally classified according to the following methods:
(1) According to the classification of main elements in ferroalloys, they can be divided into a series of ferroalloys such as silicon, manganese, chromium, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, etc.
(2) According to the carbon content in ferroalloys, they can be classified into high carbon, medium carbon, low carbon, micro carbon, ultrafine carbon, and other varieties.
(3) According to production methods, it can be divided into: blast furnace ferroalloy, electric furnace ferroalloy, out of furnace (metal thermal method) ferroalloy, vacuum solid reduction ferroalloy, converter ferroalloy, electrolytic ferroalloy, etc. In addition, there are special iron alloys such as oxide blocks and heating iron alloys.
(4) According to the classification of two or more alloying elements contained in multiple iron alloys, the main varieties include silicon aluminum alloy, silicon calcium alloy, silicon manganese aluminum alloy, silicon calcium aluminum alloy, silicon calcium barium alloy, silicon aluminum barium calcium alloy, etc.
Among the three major ferroalloy series of silicon, manganese, and chromium, silicon iron, silicon manganese, and chromium iron are the varieties with the largest output.
